Product Description

The composer writes that there is some sort of instinct in us to find or mark a 'center' of our world. A center must act as an emotional or psychological anchor, but it does not actually exist. Music can accomplish the impossible and this is the goal of this work. To mark this center the composer has used a number of musical materials including 'difference tones.' The work was also instired by the music of Tuva, a country north of Mongolia and whose capital city claims to be the geographical center of Asia. The trio is very challenging musically. The ending has the oboe and clarinet playing in unison in a powerful emotional climax. Duration c. 15 minutes. This work has been recorded by Fiati. Both the music and the recording are available from Jeanne, Inc.
