Product Description

Oskar Wermann was born in Germany in 1840. After teacher's training school, Wermann moved to Dresden where he was promoted by Friedrich Wieck, the father of the pianist Clara Schumann. Wieck promoted Wermann and convinced him to devote his life to music. Wermann studied organ with Gustav Merkel and later with Moritz Hauptmann at the Leipzig Conservatory. Wermann later taught music in Wesserling (Alsace), the academy in Neuchâtel (Switzerland), and the Royal Academy in Dresden. In 1873 he became the Royal Music Executive Director. He died in 1903.

This work was originally for English horn or clarinet and organ and has been transcribed for alto saxophone and organ by John Anderson.
